Four games that need no installer
for the weeks between floodings

A marsh spends most of the year doing nothing in particular, and the crew with it. These four free-to-play games fill that time honestly: not one asks for an installer, a launcher or a patch, so you open a tab, register, and you are playing within a minute. Between them you get a space empire that runs in rounds with an actual finish line, a cowboy to raise over months, a zoo that never fights anybody, and an arena shooter with a skill ceiling worth climbing.

01 · Round-based space empire

Nemexia

A compact empire game that runs in rounds across several servers, so there is always a start line somewhere near. Build the colony’s production, research hulls, then go and take resources off somebody who built more mines than defences.

Good for
Players who want a defined run with an actual finish.
Typical session
Twenty minutes a day

Desktop browser
Cost
Free to play; optional in-game purchases.
Your first session
  1. Join a round near its start rather than halfway through.
  2. Keep defences in step with mines; an undefended colony is a farm for somebody else.
  3. Find an alliance in the first days, because raids are planned rather than improvised.

The West key art
02 · Frontier RPG

The West

A frontier role-playing game built on jobs, duels and long character growth. You pick a class, work the territory for skill points, kit out a cowboy over months, and join a fort that fights other forts for ground.

Good for
Role-players who like slow, steady character growth.
Typical session
Ten minutes, twice a day

Your first session
  1. Pick a class and specialise; spreading skill points leaves you useless at everything.
  2. Set a long job running before you close the tab.
  3. Join a fort early, because the fort battles are the part people stay for.

My Free Zoo key art
03 · Zoo builder

My Free Zoo

Lay out enclosures, stock them with animals and keep the visitors happy as the park spreads. Breeding, feeding and decorating fill out a long, relaxed progression, and nothing in it has a fight in it anywhere.

Good for
Builders who want a park that remembers every improvement.
Typical session
Fifteen minutes a day

Your first session
  1. Finish one enclosure properly before starting the next; half-built pens earn nothing.
  2. Keep the feed stock ahead of the animals before expanding.
  3. Decorate near the paths, since that is what the visitors actually react to.

Krunker key art
04 · Arena shooter

Krunker

The fastest thing on this shelf and the one with a real skill ceiling. Eleven-plus classes change how you move as much as what you fire, and an in-client browser opens thousands of community maps and modes.

Good for
Players chasing a skill ceiling rather than a scoreboard.
Typical session
A few minutes at a time

Free to play; optional in-game purchases.
Your first session
  1. Learn to slide before learning to aim; movement decides most fights here.
  2. Pick one class and stay with it for the first week.
  3. Treat the cosmetic shop as decoration, because none of it changes how you move.

What no download actually means

Nothing is installed. All four run inside the browser already on the machine, which is why a borrowed laptop or a locked-down work computer is usually no obstacle at all.

Each studio keeps a shop inside its own game, selling premium currency, ornaments and timer skips. None of it is needed to play properly. Where a computer is shared with children, set the spending controls on the studio account before handing it over.

The first quarter of an hour

Follow the link under any game and the studio’s own site opens in a fresh tab. Register there, usually with an email address and a password, and the world loads a moment later.

Give the opening tutorial your attention on that first visit. The three slower games introduce resources, timers and other players in a deliberate order, and skipping ahead means relearning it clumsily a week later.

Fitting one around a working day

Three of these keep their own time. Production runs, jobs resolve and animals need feeding whether the tab is open or not, which makes two short visits a day a perfectly respectable way to play.

Save the real decisions — a raid, a class rebuild, a new wing of the park — for an evening when you are not watching the clock.

Looking after four separate logins

Every account belongs to its own studio and never to us, so type the password only on that studio’s own pages. Give each game its own password and switch on any second sign-in step offered.

No real member of a support team will ever ask for a password in a game chat, a forum reply or an email. Anyone promising free premium currency for a login is after the account itself.

Why these four stay in the bookmarks bar

  • Not one of them has an installer or a launcher. The browser already on the machine is the whole requirement.
  • Registering is free everywhere; the shops inside sell shortcuts and ornament, never entry.
  • Three of them keep running with the tab shut, so a five-minute look still moves something along.
  • Each has been going for years under a studio that still updates it, and there are people online at most hours.

None at all. All four open in an ordinary desktop browser and start the moment you have registered, with no launcher and no patching to sit through.

No. Registering and playing are free in every case, and each shop holds optional extras rather than anything that gates the game itself.

They are not. Four separate studios build and run them, and our buttons simply open each official site so you can register there.

No. Each studio handles its own sign-up, so expect four registrations and four passwords.

Krunker publishes a phone app besides the browser build. Nemexia, The West and My Free Zoo name no app at all and would rather you brought a keyboard.

My Free Zoo, for the gentlest start by a distance. Krunker if you want to be moving fast within thirty seconds.

In three of them, a great deal: production runs, jobs finish and animals get hungry regardless. The arena shooter is the exception, and nothing there happens without you.
